Is your teen thinking of a possible career in medicine? Join our one-of-a-kind little medical school experience specially designed for students interested in the medical field. Our Teen Medical Students will get to experience what it is like in medical school as they explore topics on anatomy, physiology, and clinical diseases. They will also learn about an important medical issue that most adolescents face which is tobacco and lung disease and be advocates of a healthy lifestyle. They will understand the importance of our kidneys, how they function and what happens in kidney failure and what is dialysis. As future medics, they will get to describe the signs of sudden cardiac arrest, and practice life-saving skills which are CPR and the Heimlich maneuver. These future doctors will learn about water safety, the different elements that make up blood, the several layers of skin, digestion, kidneys, broken bones, hypothermia, how to use a stethoscope, snake bites, and discuss the steps to becoming a doctor. Aspiring medical school attendees will also review basic medical office business issues. Students get to keep their own lightweight whitecoat, anatomy models they made and more. Please provide your child with 1 peanut free snack and water bottle to bring for a half day camp. No before and after care will be provided. Child needs to be picked up promptly at 4 pm.
