Join us for an unforgettable journey into the depths of history and imagination! Discover the exhibition "Building Black Civilizations: Journey of 2,000 Ships" at the Glenbow at the Edison Museum. Artist Ekow Nimako takes us on an Afrofuturistic adventure through ancient African kingdoms, using Lego bricks as his medium. Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 28th, at 11 a.m., and embark on a tour that will transport you to the mysterious 14th century sea voyage of Abu Bakr II, the predecessor of Mansa Musa, ruler of the Mali Empire. Legend has it that Abu Bakr II set sail with 2,000 ships into the Atlantic, never to return. Could his fleet have reached the Americas? The answer lies within Nimako's incredible creations. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to explore the intersection of art, history, and imagination. See you there! Please note that transport is NOT provided. You need to arrive at the museum at the address indicated above. Our event coordinator will be waiting for you at the museum with free tickets. A short introductory lecture from a museum staff member will also be provided. The exhibition is designed for all ages and will be of interest to both children and adults.
